kidsfirst.jpgWhat Makes A Fish, A Fish

Teaches children all about fish! How do fish take a bath? Learn the truth about sharks. Play hide and seek on the reef. The underwater realm provides boundless opportunities to learn and laugh. An upbeat original score celebrates the ocean and brings it to life.

Here is what some of the jurors said!

“Well done. Very lighthearted and informative. This wonderful documentary on ocean life provides both food for thought and candy for the eyes. Amazing visuals! Lots of information about ocean life which is told in an easy-to-understand manner and accompanied by a great soundtrack. The shots of the fish are highly detailed and the editing is flawless. The color and contrast throughout is excellent. However, towards the end, the filmmaker and musician talk about what they did in order to create the film. It ads greatly to understanding how filmmaking works. Most children are naturally fascinated with animals, nature and living creatures so this documentary immediately proves successful. It follows a formula of beautiful visuals and captivating fish to hold a child's interest throughout the entire duration of the film….It offers quality educational and entertaining content.”

The Kids Jury!

“Kids liked watching the video and tried to be the first to name the fish they were already familiar with such as sharks, seahorses, and clown fish. The comment heard round the room was, "Sharks are cool." They loved the cinematography, said the music was OK, and liked the first song best. "I liked learning about the special things you need to wear to go into the ocean." "I learned that some fish eat other fish." If you like the ocean and want to learn more about sharks, you would enjoy this.”

kidsfirst.jpgWho Lives In The Sea?

Entertains and educates children and their parents about a variety of marine animals. What kind of noise does a sea lion make? Why do dolphins move so fast? And which marine reptile walked with the dinosaurs? An upbeat original score celebrates the ocean and brings it to life.

The Kids Jury!

“Enjoyed it. Kids who live near the ocean were particularly engaged. "It shows animals that live in the sea." "We saw dolphins, sea lions, birds, turtles, and octopus." "The pictures taken underwater are neat." "We liked the background music." All the children enjoyed watching it and many asked to see it again. They commented about the spectacular underwater images, noting how colorful and interesting they were.”

Adult Jury!

“Beautiful underwater photography. Explains the different classifications of ocean life and offers examples for each one. Detailed information but not overwhelming. Scientific words are explained in kid-friendly terms. Very colorful, well paced, and engaging. Because it shows so many different animals, it holds your interest. It is a great introduction to marine life. Contains many familiar animals such as dolphins as well as exotic ones like nudibranchs. The special features gives more detailed explanation about scuba diving and also demonstrates how the audio is added to the images. Nicely done.

Dive Into Diversity

Take a ride to the depth of 1500 feet in the deep sea with a submarine pilot. Find out what happens on the reef at night. Learn what eating ice cream and brushing your teeth have in common. Why do crabs have claws? What can grow three feet in just one day? An upbeat original score celebrates the ocean and brings it to life.

Kid Jury!

kidsfirst.jpg“Children asked about the animals shown, about diving, swimming and what diversity means. They want to learn more about everything they saw in the video. They want to know about vertebrates and invertebrates and why each is the way they are. ''I really liked this video because I got to learn about some animals in the ocean. I really like the ocean and since we don't live near one I get to see it when I watch this movie.'' Another child said ''I liked the animals in the movie, they're neat!'' ''I would really like to watch it again because it teaches a little about the animals, and how they don't care that they are different from each other.'' '' I think my friends would like this video because it's neat, its all under water and the creatures look awesome.' 'It was a movie about how we should be nice to people who are different from us with examples shown by using ocean animals who don't treat each other badly because they're different." It was neat how most of the movie was filmed under water so we could see what it really looks like." ''Filming under water is cool, I felt like I was really there, like I could reach out and touch the animals.'' ''This movie got me thinking about how some people treat other people badly because they're different from them, and about how cool it would be to go scuba diving.''

Adult Jury!

“Very enjoyable. Beautiful footage of the ocean and some of the creatures living there. It also teaches about how nice diversity is and we shouldn't be mean to people who are different from us. It offers a beautiful display of the ocean and its creatures, moves smoothly from segment to segment and is done in a way that children can understand. The narrator doesn't use words that children can't understand and uses the diversity of the ocean's creatures to teach about diversity in people. The narrator explains how the animals of the ocean don't discriminate against each other based on color, species, gender or anything else. Kids are encouraged to use their imaginations. "My kids loved the video because they got to see neat animals and coral reefs. The video was lovely, with no defects in sound or visuals." "I really enjoyed seeing the kids in the water as well."
