Podcast iTunes Annie Crawley Create Your Life University of North Carolina

Our first podcast comes to you from the University of North Carolina Journalism department. Annie Crawley, AKA Ocean Annie, spoke to photo journalism students about the importance of creating the life you want and following your passion. She gave them vital advice on finding jobs and explained to them insightful ways of looking at journalism in a market that is hybridizing with traditional media going away and people turning to more social media and blogging for their news.

Annie challenged the college students to change the way they think about themselves. "What this is all about is, the job that you are going to get, you are going to create it!" Annie believes that everyone can create their future. Visualize yourself in the position you want to be in, and do not be afraid of success. No matter which of the many paths a student takes after college, it will lead them to the same one! "If you do what you love and you love what you do, doors will open. Do not let fear stop you." Though Annie pursued many fields, all roads have led her to her dream job utilizing all of her talents and giving her the ability to change the way a new generation views the Ocean and themselves.

As an inspiration to all students, Annie is transparent and honest. She does not hold anything back. "Do not take �no� personally because we all are told �no� sooner or later. Many people told me I was crazy for thinking I could create my award winning series of books and DVDS, but I did not let �no� hold me back." Today no one ever tells her she cannot do something. Annie gives career advice while directly relating to and helping specific students in the podcast. Annie works as a mentor, professional and personal coach. By using personal examples from her life, Annie is able to relate to all audiences. Although the talk was aimed at journalism students, anyone who takes the time to listen will be able to put the message into practice of their own lives.

In closing, Annie discusses ways for you to Create Your Life. "By changing your perspective in life, you will change everything. You do not have to do anything, choose to do it and realize that every moment of everyday you have choices. What you choose to do builds your character."

Annie is a prime speaker for college students because she managed to live her dreams and has never given up. After selling her car, Annie bought her underwater camera systems and traveled the world. A two-week trip to Australia ended up lasting four years, and she has lived in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Galapagos. She is now the successful creator of her production company, Dive Into Your Imagination, is an inspirational speaker, author, photographer, filmmaker, dive instructor, boat captain, mentor and life coach. Annie Crawley is a renaissance woman.
