Dive Into California Kids First All Star!

Dive Into California, the second title in the Adventures of Ocean Annie, Makaio and Fringy the Ichthyologist Fish, Wins Kids First Jury ALL STAR Award!

Dive Into Your Imagination is excited to announce DIVE INTO CALIFORNIA has just won KIDS FIRST ALL STAR AWARD! Kids First! Jurors are trained to evaluate programs on a variety of levels including appeal to audience, content, production quality of program, and motivational, educational and social benefits. In the KIDS FIRST! Film Critics program, children and parents are taught critical viewing skills with the intent to help make children’s use of media a positive one; one that enhances their cognitive, social and behavioral skills and cultivates a healthy media lifestyle.

Brief Synopsis:

Ocean Annie, Makaio and Fringy the ichthyologist Fish are back from kids first

the deep in their yellow submarine, the Imagination Explorer, to take you on another adventure to explore California.

Go diving with sharks, crabs, lobster, sea stars and find your

way to a sea lion rookery! Look for whales and dolphins too. You will learn about scuba diving and using your imagination go on an underwater expedition!

KIDS FIRST! Adult Juror Comments

This is a wonderful film packed full of information about California's Sea Life. The information is presented in a simple and fun fashion, that is entertaining for a younger audience. It has an array of visual stimulus, with amazing cinematography.

The clarity of the sea creatures and the brilliance of their colors is eye-catching and sure to attract and draws the audience in.

Dive Into California is sure to motivate youngsters to want to learn more about sea creatures. Ocean Annie does an excellent job of respecting her viewers as young children. She is enthusiastic without being condescending. I liked how they introduced the kids to the outfits of a scuba diver.

The use of repetition and counting helps to get viewers interact with the screen.

I heard Ocean Annie present at a teacher in-service day for Area 2 in the Chicago Public School system. I went back to my classroom and followed her advice. I am now teaching Math, English, and Science classes using the Ocean to engage my students. Ocean Annie is an inspiration not only to kids, but to me as well! I have learned so much through her programs!

KIDS FIRST! KID JUROR COMMENTS AGED 3-10

More than 50 children reviewed this program. They were captivated by the colors. They had the feeling that they were actually in the ocean with the dolphins, sharks, crabs, lobsters, whales and yes, even ‘Nemo!’ which is the term they use when they see a clownfish!

We were pretending to be scuba divers and taking pictures of all the sea animals. We use our imagination and Ms. Crawley teaches us about the animals.

I liked the way the fish all got together in a ball - creating the 'school of fish'.

We liked the reward of giving a "sea lion clap!"

A couple of the kids started creating motions as if they were swimming and scuba diving. They showed surprise at learning new facts about animals they thought they already knew.

I liked the Scuba diving the best, because it sounded cool to be able to see even more sea animals closer up!

I really liked how they got near to the fish and they even got a microscopic view on some of them.

We wanted to watch it AGAIN!

In 2010, KIDS FIRST! created a first annual "search" campaign to find 5 kids, nationwide to become official KIDS FIRST! Film Critics. The winners will serve for one year and will be sent to Red Carpet Events and advance screenings; they will interview celebrities on and off the Red Carpet; they will write reviews and blogs about upcoming film and DVD releases.
