I sat on a beach with five of my students waiting to get taken to Nusa Penida, a small island off the coast of Bali. We’d been waiting there for hours, enduring the abuses of a torrential rainstorm, one of many that had been pounding the island for the last three days.

1. What was it that prompted you to create a book/videos about the ocean for children? Why do you think it’s so important to teach kids about our oceans, as opposed to their parents?
My sister and all of my friends started having children and believe it or not, none of them know how to dive. Originally I just wanted to create products to share the amazing aquatic world that I didn’t find until I was an adult. |
