North Pacific GyrePosted by Annie Crawley in Untagged |

I have just returned from 27 days at sea, first to the North Pacific Gyre, then to the Channel Islands here in California. During the past month my life has transformed as I realize the power of multi-media and science working together. From August 2-22, 2009 I traveled with Project Kaisei and Scripps Institute of Oceanography aboard the New Horizon to the North Pacific Gyre. Chief Scientist Miriam Goldstein led the expedition. Here is a two minute video on the expedition I made for Project Kaisei.
Over the course of the next few weeks, I will be sending out pictures and video I took during my trip. I worked nearly 20 hours everyday as I was hired to do photography and video aboard the vessel. Special thanks goes to Samy's camera who supported me with camera, lens and microphones. Also Mike Braniger supplied me with a portable lighting kit that was invaluable. It is my hopes that you will follow me as I highlight what transpired during the course of 20 days at sea.
