Filming Video Tip #7

Watch for the natural humor in everything around you. Auntie Annie gave everyone a lecture, but the interesting part visually was not her in a tent with the kids, the funny part was that we all had to take our shoes off and on every time we entered or exited a tent. Capturing these moments helps make the story interesting. Don't forget about pre-production!

Also, the adults were doing the arts and crafts before the kids even came to make sure they knew how to teach their kids. Capturing these moments are important and what makes video more special than still photography.

VIDEO CHALLENGE: How do you white balance your camera? Cameras today have usually two settings that are programmed internally, one for outside lighting and one for indoors. Outside lighting is 5600K and there is usually a sun as the icon. Inside shooting is usually with incandescent light at 3200K and a light bulb is the representation. Many cameras come with manual white balance too. When you have mixed lighting you want to manually white balance your camera if your camera has this function.
