Filming Video Tip #6
Tuesday, 17 February 2009

The rain was a big part of our experience. Looking back years from now, no one would have remembered the rain without capturing this little bit of footage. How did we do it?

The kids watched movies in someone’s mini-van while the parents tried to be troopers and build a blaring campfire and not be defeated by the rain.

We also decided to go from a music track to include sound. Again, the camera operator has a lot of say, and can add humor to any story. Many times when starting video it is important to realize shooting and editing go hand in hand!

VIDEO CHALLENGE: Can you shoot in the rain with your cameras? NO! Unless you have a WATERPROOF camera. You can ruin your camera if you film in the rain, but a lot of new cameras are water resistant. Even if they are, you need to be very careful whenever your electronics are exposed to moisture.
